Summer’s coming! Newspapers often used to mention big family get-togethers and reunions – most often held when the weather was good! These articles can be a great help in genealogy and one-name surname research. For example,
“Lewis Reunion Was Great Success”
In September of 1935, The Expositor of Brantford, Ontario, Canada reported on a Lewis family reunion at Mohawk Park. More than 70 family members participated.
After lunch, new officers elected included Charles Thompson and William Lewis, both from Mount Pleasant, and Benjamin Lewis of Brantford. After that came the games – for boys and girls of various ages, for the “young ladies” and “young men”, and the “married ladies” and men. Names of all the winners are mentioned.
